Today 12.5 million children are overweight in the United States - more than 17%. Overweight children are at a greater risk for serious health conditions. This initiative promotes the importance of healthy eating and physical activity at a young age to help prevent overweight and obesity in this country.
The BoyScouts of America with support from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the United States Department of Agriculture to develop a packed of information for communities, individuals, and young people so that they understand what is healthy, how to keep fit, and how to avoid tendancies that can lead to obesity.

This 29-page resource guide covers topics including staying smart in school by eating the right foods, exercising, the food pyramid, a gide to fruits and vegetables and making the right choices. This information is helpful and health-ful for people of all ages.
The guide is a free resource that has been developed supported by CDC and developed with significnat collaboration between many partners to help you choose programs and policies to improve health and prevent disease in your community. Systematic Reviews are used to answer these questions
• Which programs and policy interventions have been proven effective?
• Are there effective interventions that are right for my community?
• What might effective interventions cost? What is the retrun on investment?
More than 200 interventions have been reviewed and the Task Force on Community Preventive Services has issues recommendations for their use.
The Community Guide covers many key health and wellness issues including but not limited to:

• Physical Activity
• Violence
The Guide to Clinical Preventive Services contains the contains the US Preventive Task Force Services recommendations to the use of screening, counseling and other preventive services that are typically delivered in primary care settings. The US Preventive Task Force Services, an independent panel of experts supported by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, makes recommendations based on the systematic reviews of the evidence related to the benefits and potential harms of clinical preventive services.
